Michelle’s food review:
This was a very unassuming shop in an industrial/factory area. We had the midnight munchies and this was one of the only bakeries open in the GTA. In fact, they have 2 locations and they are both open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. It was huge on the inside with many imported Italian goods, a dessert counter, a hot food counter and fresh baked breads. The ladies at the counter were very friendly and honest in telling us what was fresh for the day and what wasn’t. They strongly recommended the Portuguese egg tarts!
Portuguese Egg Custard Tart: A sumptuous, creamy egg custard filling surrounded by a flaky puff pastry shell. What more could you want with you midnight cappuccino?! This pastry was the perfect balance of filling to crust; the perfect level of sweetness and not eggy tasting.
Chocolate Filled Cannoli: A pie shell deep fried into crunchy perfection in the form of a cylinder, filled with a smooth chocolate mousse and drizzled with dark chocolate. The cannoli’s had obviously been sitting in the display all day as the outsides of the mousse filling were dry and crusted over but once you got past that part, the inside was an airy, luxurious, chocolatey filling.
Cappuccino: This cappuccino could beat any cappuccino from a fancy coffee shop. It was crafted to perfection with the right proportions of coffee to milk to milk foam. I personally don’t add sugar but you do have the option to add your own.
Vishal’s food review:
The location was sketch - looks like a trailer park or abandoned junkyard. It might look better during the day time though. There were two ladies behind the bakery counter who were quite nice. The customer service was great.
Portuguese Egg Custard Tart: The custard was thick and heavy. Not too sweet. The crust was flaky and soft. Very filling for a small dessert. Definitely worth the price.
Chocolate Filled Cannoli: These were large and heavy also. Lots of filling which wasn’t too sweet. The exterior was like a wafer and the inside was like chocolatey whip cream. Not bad at all. Worth the price.
Black Tea: Nothing special - tastes like any other black tea. I don’t think it’s worth $2.00.
